However, some microscopic organic residues can remain attached to stone tools, even under the most adverse conditions.
By examining these residues much can be learned about ancient economies. Residue analysis, for both blood and plant starches can be used to determine what animals may have been hunted and what plants may have been gathered by early peoples.
